Wilson Bank & Trust last week presented principal Dr. Willie Dickerson of Franklin High School with a check for $500 for sponsoring their drug and alcohol-free Project Graduation.
The sponsorship check was presented on Wednesday, Jan. 23, along with a $75 donation.
According to the Franklin High School Parent Association Web site, Project Graduation is an all-night celebration including games, activities, food, entertainment, music, and prize giveaways.
This parent-supervised event begins at 10:30 p.m. the night of graduation and ends at approximately 5 a.m. the next morning. Nearly 100% of the graduating class attends this inclusive FHS tradition each year.
No alcohol or drugs are allowed at this lock-in activity. Any student deciding to leave will not be re-admitted and his/her parents will be notified. Security and many parent volunteers will be on-site to ensure an enjoyable, safe night for every FHS senior.
Project Graduation eliminates separate graduation night parties located around the community, helping to protect the new grads at the time they’re most at risk of becoming drunk driving victims.
