The Williamson County Parks and Recreation Department is offering numerous classes and activities in July for children and adults. All classes are open to the public and will be held at the Franklin Recreation Complex. Check out the list below:
Mixed Media Art Journaling For Teens
July’s Art Journaling will encourage artists to artistically journal and doodle their thoughts on freedom, peace and patriotism.
Art Journaling classes run 1.5 hours weekly and each month features a different topic and techniques that build to complete that month’s page. This multi-sitting approach is perfect for artwork that is a progression of layers. Art Journaling elevates Mixed Media by way of the informal journal format allowing artist a place to take changes, experiment and learn, and to personalize their art with titles or text that enhances their pages with thoughts about the subject matter.

Creative Mixed Media Workshop
Join artist, Suzanne Beaumar, to create a unique inspired collaged canvas art. Enjoy this art filled four-hour workshop spent laying color and pattern with color blocking, stenciling, doodling and mark making to create a wonderfully whimsical Fancy Cat on a 9″x12″ canvas.

Learnin’ The Ropes
This class is designed to teach the sport of jump rope while instilling positive character qualities in youth of all ages. Participants will receive high quality instruction in single rope, shared rope, long rope, double-dutch and more. All classes are taught by a trained instructor who will provide a fun, safe and inviting atmosphere! Jump rope is great for building hand eye coordination, foot work, cardiovascular health, and overall general fitness. Class will meet Monday through Friday, July 29 – August 2 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Road. For ages 7-13. Cost is $180. Private piano lessons are offered in 30-minute time slots on Fridays at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. Learn note reading skills, music theory and artistic technique. Call/text James at 615-268-2296 or email email@example.com to reserve your 30 minute time slot. Once your time slot is reserved, the instructor will give you a link for online registration to complete your registration and payment. Cost is $30 per session. A supply fee may apply for method books as needed. For ages 4 and up.
Pickleball is a cross between badminton, tennis and table tennis. Open Pickleball (indoor) is offered at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. on Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to noon; PLUS: Mondays 5 to 9 p.m. (both courts); and Saturdays from 8 to 10 a.m. (both courts) or 8 a.m. to noon. Fitness and Wellness
Williamson County Parks and Recreation (WCPR) offers a wide variety of fitness classes at the Franklin Recreation Complex, 1120 Hillsboro Rd. With ongoing, weekly classes, plus personal trainers and health coaches on staff; WCPR makes it easy for you reach your goals with classes like Yoga, Zumba, indoor cycling, Iron Bodies, and Cardio Boot Camp. Group fitness classes are included in premium general admission ($8 adults, 18-54 yrs., $4 seniors and youth) or with a premium monthly or annual pass.
