Independence running back Troy Henderson is the Marla Richardson with Realty Trust Residential Player of the Week for October 3.

He caught two passes for 140 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 63 yards and a score in Friday’s 42-17 win against Stewarts Creek.

His first touchdown was on a 60-yard reception to give the Eagles a 7-3 lead in the first quarter.

He extended the lead to 10 points on a 1-yard touchdown run in the second frame, and he added an 8-yard touchdown reception for the game’s final score in the fourth quarter.

Independence (6-0, 3-0) battles Shelbyville (5-1, 2-1) in a Region 5-5A matchup Thursday.
