Voters will have chance to learn more about Franklin’s at-large alderman candidates at tonight’s forum

STAFF REPORTS

The Franklin Home Page will join four other organizations in presenting a candidates forum for the city of Franklin at-large aldermanic races tonight at 6 p.m. at Franklin City Hall.

Franklin Tomorrow is host of the forum, which will also include the Williamson Herald, Williamson Inc. and the Williamson County Association of Realtors. The program, which will be moderated by Tom Lawrence of WAKM-AM radio, is expected to last up to two hours. The public is invited to attend, and the forum will also be broadcast on Franklin TV.

All candidates have agreed to participate in the forum, which will allow each candidate an opening statement and the chance to answer all questions asked by the presenting organizations, as well as questions that were submitted in advance by the community. No questions will be allowed from the audience during the event.

While Franklin is divided into four wards, the city also has four at-large aldermen who represent it as a whole, elected in races labeled A, B, C, D. The city’s mayor is elected by the entire city. Those seats are on the ballot on Tuesday, Oct. 22.

Candidates include:

Alderman A: Alderman Clyde Barnhill is being challenged by Howard W. Garrett

Alderman B: Alderman Brandy Blanton is being challenged by Michelle P. Sutton

Alderman C: Alderman Pearl Bransford is being challenged by Bhavani K. Muvvala

Alderman D: Alderman Ann Petersen is running unopposed.

Mayor: Incumbent Dr. Ken Moore is running unopposed.

Early voting for this election has begun and will run through Thursday, Oct. 17, at the Williamson County Administrative Complex on West Main Street in Franklin. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m.-noon Saturdays.
