Tropical storm burnout to affect Middle Tennessee Tuesday, with scattered showers throughout the week

Today’s showers, the remnants of subtropical storm Alberto, will burn out tonight and Wednesday morning before a return to the regularly scheduled program of summertime storms.

The storm, which killed two journalists in North Carolina when a tree fell on their vehicle, brought heavy rains to Middle Tennessee Monday night and will continue today.

National Weather Service meteorologist Mark Rose said the weather for tonight and tomorrow will primarily be scattered showers, though, with the forecast showing a stronger change for severe storms on Thursday.

For the weekend, the chance of rain is 20 percent during the day on Saturday, rising to 40 percent on Sunday.

Here is the latest weather forecast from the National Weather Service bureau in Nashville.

Tonight
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Cloudy, with a low around 68. South wind 10 to 15 miles per hour, with gusts as high as 25 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Wednesday
Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 86. Southwest wind five to 10 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday night
A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. South wind around five miles per hour.

Thursday
Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 88. Southwest wind five to 10 miles per hour. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.

Thursday night
A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. South southwest wind around five miles per hour.

Friday
A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. West southwest wind around five miles per hour.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. West wind around five miles per hour becoming calm in the evening.
