A neighborhood meeting is set for 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 9, at City Hall to discuss Beazer Homes’ proposal to create 108 age-restricted condominiums along Mallory Station Road.
The Gatherings @ Mallory Station would be the third senior living project in the immediate area. It is proposed for 200 Mallory Station Road, between Morningside of Franklin and Avenida Cool Springs, on a site that years ago was home to a general aviation airstrip.
Avenida is a 55-and-up apartment community for active seniors that is under construction on the former site of WAKM Radio’s studio and tower, and is now leasing units.
The Gatherings will prohibit rentals in its 4-story buildings.
Morningside of Franklin pioneered senior living on Mallory Station Road in the late 1990s. It includes both condominiums and an assisted living facility.
Since Morningside was developed, there has been a senior living building boom concentrated in Franklin, but now spreading into Brentwood, Spring Hill and Nolensville, which now has a senior living complex under way in the initial stages of construction.
Morning Pointe has communities in Brentwood, Franklin and Spring Hill, and recently opened a memory care unit at its new Franklin campus on Hwy. 96 West. The Heritage at Brentwood is expanding on its site near the WSM Tower with 97 independent living apartments being added to its range of senior care options.
And just over the hill from the developments on Mallory Station Road, Canterfield of Franklin recently opened near the intersection of Moores Lane and Franklin Road.
