Hilary Llamas, daughter of Cynthia and Javier Llamas, is a freshman at Page High School and this week’s Student of the Week.
She is a member of both the tennis and lacrosse teams.
Llamas is very passionate about caring after her friends and family. She always has the well-being of others in mind.
One of her biggest accomplishments was when she won several tennis tournaments and “was able to achieve and overcome the challenge of trying a new sport.” She also touched on her adaptability to a new phase of her life saying, “I was able to thrive in a high school environment after moving from a different state.”
Her favorite class is English I Honors with Ms. Studer.
“I like the challenge of it and being able to break down literature in a way I never really have before,” Llamas said.
One of her biggest role models and inspirations is world renowned tennis player, Serena Williams.
“Serena has had a career in tennis for more than 20 years. In those years, she’s earned more grand slam titles than any other tennis player, male or female,” she said. “On top of that, she’s never stopped working for an even bigger title.”
Stacey Studer said of Llamas, “Hilary Llamas has improved a great deal from the start of the year. She is becoming a ‘literary thinker’ and is doing wonderful with text analysis and writing. Her recent historical narrative was exemplary! The character development, imagery and theme so expertly intertwined is what English teachers love to see develop in student writing.”
Although only a freshman, Llamas said she plans to go to college to pursue a career as a doctor.
