Cameron Clark, son of Patricia and James Clark, is a senior at Battle Ground Academy and this week’s Student of the Week.
He is involved in several activities in school including Quiz Bowl, Robotics Club, Honor Council, Science Club, Spanish Club, Poetry Club Friday, National Honor Society and BGA Cum Laude.
His awards are equally as impressive as his list of activities. Clark is a National Merit Semifinalist, AP Scholar with Distinction and a BGA Merit Scholarship Recipient. He has also won the Rensselaer Medal in STEM, Daughters of the American Revolution History medal and multiple National Spanish Exam gold medals.
One of the things Clark is most passionate about is Quiz Bowl “because it rewards a love of learning in competition and in a welcoming team environment.”
His biggest role models and inspirations are his parents, Patricia and James. He said that “they worked their way out of difficult financial backgrounds” and have always been there for him.
He recalled a specific memory about his father that always inspires him.
“My dad was one of the first in his family to go to college. He was struggling in his first year because that lack of support… he saw the opportunity that college afforded him… he saw the value of hard work and tried to pass that down to me,” Clark said.
His favorite class is Honors Organic Chemistry. He said he finds interest in learning “how everyday objects are manufactured and how their properties match their functions.”
After graduating, he plans to attend college to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering.
