SOCCER ROUNDUP: CPA heads to state finals game, three others end run

The Christ Presbyterian Academy Lady Lions are one win away from a state title.

With three goals from Caroline Betts, Emmaline Bartlett and Meredith Finucane, the team toppled St. George’s 3-2 in the first round of the D-II Class A State Tournament at Siegel Soccer Complex Thursday.

The team will go for the gold against Chattanooga Christian Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at Siegel’s stadium venue.

Ravenwood, Nolensville, BA end seasons 

Despite a strong 18-2 season, the Ravenwood Lady Raptors couldn’t quite get to the final round of the Class AAA state bracket in a 4-1 semifinals loss to Houston Thursday night at Siegel.

Anna Augustini got the lone goal for Ravenwood.

Nolensville also ended its first state run in school history in a 2-0 loss to Seymour in Class AA’s semis.

They’ll close the year 17-2-2.

Brentwood Academy also completed its season Thursday with a 4-1 loss to Girls Academy Prep.

Lucy James Knox scored the Lady Eagles’ goal in the defeat. They finish 2018 with a 12-2-2 record.
