Final plans have been made for the live streaming of Kathryn “Katy” Nevil’s “Celebration of Life” service in Arlington, Texas. The service can be viewed Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the Baskin Chapel at Brentwood Baptist Church, 7777 Concord Road. (Click here for full obituary).
Nevil was killed Nov. 16 at the start of her family’s Thanksgiving trip to Texas when the Franklin family of four’s SUV was involved in a two-vehicle collision in Arkansas. Her daughter Lauren Nevil, 12 and a sixth-grade student at Page Middle School, suffered traumatic brain injury (TBI) in the collision and still remains in ICU with unknown prognosis. Son Will, 9, a third grader at Winstead Elementary, was also injured but has been released from the hospital. Her husband Steve Nevil was unharmed.
Thursday’s service will include prayer time for Lauren. Those attending are encouraged to bring cards for the children.
Franklin friends are organizing a fundraising walk on Dec. 15 to honor Nevil and to assist the family with medical expenses. The Nevil Family 5K Walk and Katy’s Mile will begin at 9 a.m. at the Sullivan Farms Pool on Donelson Creek Parkway, Franklin.
A Facebook page (click here) has been set up with information and for registration. Participants can also register and get more information by emailing nevil5Kwalk@gmail.com. All of the money raised by the walk will be used for the children’s medical expenses.
