The sounds of Americana and country will fill the air this weekend, as the Leiper’s Fork Distillery and Carnton offer music Friday and Sunday, respectively. In the meantime, St. Philip Catholic Church will be site of free health screenings in partnership with Mercy Community Healthcare.
The Stillhouse Sessions
Where: Leiper’s Fork Distillery
When: Friday, 6:30-9:30 p.m.
Where they’re making whiskey, they’re also making music. Held the last Friday of each month, the session for June features No. 1 hit songwriter and Americana artist Kevin Welch. Among many others, he is the sole songwriter on Chris Stapleton’s current single, “Millionaire.”
Community Health Fair
Where: St. Philip Catholic Church, Franklin
When: Saturday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free sports physicals, vision and hearing tests, and Naloxone (Narcan) training are just a few of the free offerings at this third annual fair hosted by St. Philip Catholic Church and Mercy Community Healthcare. In addition to sports physicals, Mercy will also provide free blood pressure screenings, glucose checks, and assistance with insurance and other social services. Sunset Concert Series
When: Sunday, 6-8 p.m.
Fans of Johnny Cash will want to attend this summer music gathering sponsored by the Battle of Franklin Trust. Event gates open at 4 p.m. Guests may bring chairs, blankets and picnics. Food and beverage, including alcohol, is permitted. Food trucks and a drink tent with beer, wine and cocktails will also be onsite. Pets, tents and grills are not allowed.
Tickets are $5 for children ages 6-15, $10 for adults in advance and $12 at the gate. Parking is free and available on site.
