Franklin girls soccer team opened defense of its state championship with an 8-0 romp over Riverdale, while Centennial won soccer and volleyball matches and Page’s state championship volleyball team triumphed.

The Franklin High School girls soccer team opened defense of its Class AAA state championship with an 8-0 romp over Riverdale.

Lyndie Donegan and Hope Van Ryckeghem scored two goals apiece on Wednesday for the Lady Rebels, who won their 25th game in a row.

FHS took a 7-0 lead into halftime. Ryckeghem added an assist, and Meredith Slessman had a score and assisted on another goal.

Morgan Key-Adams, Hannah Hewett and Rachel Frey also found the net, while Jill White recorded an assist.

Franklin keeper Jessica Harvey made two saves in the shutout, while Riverdale’s Kristin Fuller stopped one shot on goal.

Centennial 3, White House 2: Olivia Bohlman, Lydia Orognovik and Kayla Hunt scored goals to give the Lady Cougars a win in their season-opener on Tuesday.

Rachel Dillard, Bohlman and Orognivik had assists on the scores. Keeper Cailin Moore made two good saves.


Page 3, Lewis County 0: Niki Pewett had nine kills, 24 assists and five aces for the two-time defending AA state champion in Thursday’s 25-16, 25-9, 25-9 victory.

Hannah Lyons contributed nine kills as well, and Jessie Sokol and Maggie Allen had eight each. Allen also scores on three aces.

Brentwood Academy 3, Franklin 2: The DII-AA Lady Eagles came back from a second-set loss to win in five sets against the AAA Rebels on Thursday, 17-25, 25-18, 25-22, 15-25, 15-13.

It was the team’s first match under new head coach and assistant athletic director Shari Christenson, hired from Denison (Texas) by new football coach/AD Cody White.

Centennial 3, Lavergne 0: Carolyn Hyde and Lauren Suddath led the Lady Cougars with seven kills apiece, and Kayla Robinson added five in the 25-4, 25-8, 25-8 victory Thursday.

Sarah Ngo served seven aces and made 12 assists. London Cone aced six serves, and Reagan Petty had four aces and four digs. Chloe Sullivan provided three digs on defense.

BGA 3, Blackman 0: The Lady Wildcats rolled past AAA opponent Blaze on Thursday, 25-17, 25-22, 25-15.

BGA 3, Riverdale 1: Battle Ground overcame a first-game loss Thursday to win against the AAA Warriors, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20, 25-15.

Centennial 3, Harpeth Hall 1: Maddie Earp had 15 kills and Suddath nine in Wednesday’s 25-14, 25-27, 25-19, 25-16 victory over the Honeybears.

Taylor Lowe and Petty each served up five aces, while Petty had 28 digs, Suddath 21 and Lowe 18. Ngo provided 30 assists.

Centennial 3, Ensworth 0:  Earp recorded 15 kills and two aces while Suddath added seven kills and 12 digs in the 25-21, 25-17, 25-11 season-opening win Monday. Ngo set up hitters with 26 assists and served two aces, and Petty made 21 digs on defense.


Ravenwood 141, Franklin 155, boys: Davis Baxter blistered the course with a 32 to lead the Raptors over District 11-AAA opponent Franklin in a sweep of the Rebels teams Thursday.

Maison Felkins had the low score for Franklin with 38, while a group of three all finished at 39 – Sam Baker, Eric Rees and Vaughn Gruenert.

Hunter Howell and Adam Button both fired 36s for RHS, while Connor Wells shot a 37.

Ravenwood 90, Franklin 117, girls: Natalia Asensio had a round of 40 and Courtney Craven 50 for the Lady Raptors. Katie Whalen finished with a 58 and Claire Rice had a 59 for the Lady Rebels.
