ROUNDUP: Franklin girls soccer blanks Clarksville; BGA, Indy, Summit volleyball earn victories


Battle Ground Academy 0 at Brentwood Academy 0

BGA goalkeeper Anna Quinn French registered nine saves in Thursday’s scoreless tie at BA.

BA keeper McKinley Stiff registered six saves.

Franklin 3 at Clarksville 0

Franklin took down Clarksville 3-0 in a rematch of last year’s Class AAA state title game.

Harper White registered one goal and one assist in the victory, while Caroline DeFranco and Maddie Ash scored one goal apiece.

Sara Casey and Jessica Bissinger added one assist each.

Grace Christian Academy 4 at Lipscomb Academy 3

Gabby Jones scored three goals to lift GCA to a 4-3 win at Lipscomb Academy.

Charlie Beathard added one goal in the win, while Abby White and Anna Blair Fish had one assist apiece.

Battle Ground Academy 3 vs. Ezell-Harding 0

BGA’s Gracie Bailey posted 17 assists, Holland Mooney had eight kills and Avery Tidwell recorded 26 digs in Thursday’s 25-21, 25-11, 25-7 win against Ezell-Harding.

Independence 3 at Centennial 0

Independence’s Logan O’Brien recorded 16 digs in Thursday’s 3-0 win against Centennial.

Emma Copps added nine kills on 15 attempts in the victory, while Rachel Picha had seven kills in her first start.

Summit 3 at Franklin 1

Summit took down Franklin 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, 25-20 Thursday.

Summit was led by Allison Turpin (8 assists, 5 aces), Avri Davis (8 kills, 5 blocks), Abby Grubbs (16 assists, 6 kills) and Destiny Cherry (6 kills, 5 blocks).  Libero Haley Sanders added 16 digs.

“We made too many mistakes early and did not clean up our play until late in the second set,” Summit head coach Warne Riker said. “Faster starts in the last two sets established the momentum to finish strong.  I asked the team to focus on a high serving percentage which led to a season-high ace total.”

The win improves the Lady Spartans to 9-3 overall and 1-1 in District 12-AAA.


Franklin 147 vs. Brentwood 157

Franklin’s Michael Shears shot 35 (-1), Jack Morris shot 36, Addison Carney shot 37 and Joseph Stanley and Sam Beard each shot 39 in a 147-157 win against Brentwood Thursday.

Trenton Johnson led Brentwood with a score of 37, while Drew Howard and Brandon Knight each shot 38.


Brentwood 93 vs. Franklin 96

Brentwood’s Gigi Powers shot 43 and Elizabeth Smith shot 50 in a 93-96 win against Franklin.

Franklin’s Izzy Griggs shot 41 and Stella Busseli shot 55.
