Win or lose, Franklin alderman candidates took a collective sigh of relief on Tuesday night, as months of campaigning and the fall election came to an end.
After spending all day at polling precincts, Ward 2 Alderman Dana McLendon said, “Right now, I’m going to go home and watch baseball and drink beer.” He noted that election night conflicted with Game 1 of the World Series.
In the front yard of Ward 4 Alderman Margaret Martin’s home stood a graveyard of her left over campaign signs.
Martin hosted a party at her home for friends and family, which was catered by the Cool Cafe; snacks include fried chicken, charcuterie boards, chocolate dipped strawberries and other goodies.
Ward 1 Alderman Beverly Burger wound down her night at Brixx Pizza on West McEwen Drive, where she and friends enjoyed pizza and drinks, along with specialty cookies designed by a friend that read “Thanks, Bev Burger” and “Thanks y’all. Bev!”
Ward 3 alderman-elect Scott Speedy held his celebration, which wrapped up before 10 p.m., at the Corner Pub.
