One of Williamson County’s newest theatre troupes is presenting “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” this weekend.
Off The Square, who previously performed “The Wizard Of Oz,” will perform Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” starting Thursday, June 16 at Generations Church in downtown Franklin.
Off The Square is a Christian group whose members do everything for their shows, including stage performance, costume creation, stage makeup, set design and construction, graphic design, marketing and sales, and concessions.
“We’ve all been working really hard on this show,” parent and volunteer Shannon Pope said. “The set looks great, the costumes are fun and we’ve got some surprises in store.”
“Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” is a story about a boy who wins the last of five coveted golden tickets to tour Wonka’s factory. The owner leads the five young winners on a thrilling and often dangerous tour of the factory.
The more than 20-person cast will open the show tonight at 7 p.m.
There are also performances on Friday, June 17 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, June 18 at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Off The Square is sponsored by Juice Bar, Franklin Mercantile Deli, Kilwins, Merridee’s Breadbasket and Our Thrift Store, as well as donations from the community.
