OBITUARY: Wendell Douglas Edison

Wendell Douglas Edison, age 76, was the son of Ruben R. and Clara Russell.

Wendell was born in Nashville, Tennessee on Sept. 1, 1943. He was a graduate of Donelson High School and Belmont University. He resided in Donelson, Brentwood and Franklin, Tennessee. He was married to Fay Deaton Edison for 54 years and was a member of First Baptist Donelson and Harpeth Hills Church of Christ. Wendell spent his professional sales career at Sears and Cenwood Appliance Distributors. An avid student of history, he served the community as Brentwood Historic Commissioner, Traveler’s Rest Board member and Tour Guide at Belmont Mansion. He enjoyed participating in historic reenactment projects for Brentwood Historic, City of Brentwood, Belmont Mansion, Carnton, Carter House, PBS, Mt Olivet’s annual cemetery tour and Traveler’s Rest.

He is preceded in death by parents, Ruben and Clara Edison.

Sincere appreciation to Dr. Tom Henderson, Dr. Sear Ryan, Marinell Yates, and Mark Brown for innumerable kindnesses during Wendell’s 12-year Alzheimer’s journey.

Visitation with family will be at Williamson Memorial Funeral Home in Franklin, Tennessee from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Sept. 13, 2019 at 1 p.m. Interment will follow in Williamson Memorial Garden.
