Julian C. Cornett was born in Atlanta, Ga., on June 21, 1944, to the late George and Mildred Cornett, and passed away on Oct. 19, 2016, at the age of 72 after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his brother and sister. Those left behind to cherish his memory include his loving and devoted wife of nearly 50 years, Judy Cornett; children, Julianne Cornett-Thompson (Ron) and Jeff Cornett (Heather); grandchildren, Jordan, Katie, Colin, and Sara; and many nieces and nephews.
Julian was a graduate of Southwest High School in Atlanta, Ga., and earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Georgia State University. He also served our country as a member of the U.S. Army Reserve. Julian was a faithful follower of Christ and an active member of Brentwood United Methodist Church. In addition to his career in the banking industry for over 35 years, he was also active in other administration and leadership roles within the community such as serving as a board member for the Red Cross, the Ronald McDonald House, Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital, and Community Outreach Ministries.
Julian’s Celebration of Life Service officiated by Bishop Robert H. Spain, Dr. Davis Chappell, and Dr. Laura Brantley will be held at 11 a.m. at Brentwood United Methodist Church on Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, with a time for family to gather with friends from 9:30 a.m. up until the time of service.
