Most popular books at the Williamson County Public Library this summer

Summer is upon us, and with the season comes longer days and more free time to read.

At the Williamson County Public Library, Head of Technical Services Marcia Butler said the main location’s circulation staff has been handling a record 4,000-plus transactions on several days.

June 19 saw 4,180 transactions, the busiest Tuesday of 2018, and May 29 had 5,966 transactions.

Books with the greatest number of holds this week include “Kitchen Confidential,” Anthony Bourdain’s bestseller; “A Murder in Music City;” and #1 New York Times bestselling author Emily Giffin’s “All We Ever Wanted,” set in Nashville.

“The Great Alone” by Kristin Hannah and “A Murder in Music City” have been the top two most in-demand titles since mid-May.

Butler said current events often dictate which books are requested; a few weeks ago, James Comey’s “A Higher Loyalty” was on the list.

Butler also said children’s books are always popular, flying off the shelf as soon as they come in.
