Local hockey team to play benefit memorial game at Ford Ice Center in remembrance of 9/11 firefighters

Nashville Fire Hockey Team will take the ice for the 5th Annual 9/11 Memorial Skate, Saturday September 8 at 6 p.m. at the Ford Ice Center.

The 9/11 Memorial Game will honor the 343 firefighters who died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Centers.

A silent auction will feature one-of-a kind items such as a signed football by Former Tennessee Titan Eddie George, a signed jersey by New England Patriots Tight End Rob Gronkowski, a signed bat from Albert Pujols and a signed 2014 College World Series bat from Tim Corbin.

The event is free to the public, but donations are welcome.

Proceeds from the hockey games will benefit The Box 55 organization and help with medical expenses for LifeFlight Paramedic Cole Anderson who suffered a serious spinal injury in an off duty incident this summer.

Box 55 provides on scene support to first responders 24/7. The non-profit has served first responders in Davidson County and Middle Tennessee for 66 years.
