A leader at Brentwood-based Kirkland’s, Inc. will be the keynote speaker for the county chamber of commerce’s annual celebration on Wednesday, November 7.

Mike Cairnes is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of Kirkland’s, a Fortune 1000 company of 400 retail stores.

Kirkland’s was founded in 1966 by Carl Kirkland. The stores specialize in indoor and outdoor furniture, rugs, mirrors, lighting, wall art, home and garden accessories, seasonal items and gifts.

Cairnes studied engineering in college, and worked at Texas Instruments and Michaels. His skills lie in researching and renovating marketing departments, as he made his mark as chief operating officer.

Matt Largen, the president and CEO of Williamson, Inc., said he was excited for Cairnes to share his experiences innovating companies to boost sales.

“Kirkland’s moved their headquarters to Williamson County five years ago and are one of Brentwood’s most important corporate citizens,” Largen said. “Mike has a unique skill set for someone in retail given that his formal education is in engineering. He will provide great advice for companies large and small through his experiences working for a variety of companies in his career.”

The celebration will be held at Franklin Sports Hall, formerly A-Game, 215 Gothic Court, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with drinks and networking. The program and dinner begin at 6 p.m.
