Faith Wilken, daughter of Rob and Jennifer Wilken, is our Jet’s Pizza Female Athlete of the Week
She is a junior at Page High School and a member of the varsity girls basketball team. She plays the positions of point and shooting guard for the team. Her average points per game is 17.5, with a career high of 34.
Wilken said she played several sports when she was younger, but always remembers basketball being her favorite.
“Over time, I decided I wanted to focus on that and get better,” Wilken said.
When asked what inspires her to continue training and competing she said, “I am very motivated on getting a college scholarship to play basketball at the next level. It makes me work harder to achieve that and become an even better player.”
She added, “My team also inspires me because I want us to succeed and do more than everyone thinks we can.”
Her biggest role models and inspirations are her parents, Rob and Jennifer.
“They have worked very hard to give me the life that I have and I want to do that for my kids one day,” she said.
After graduating from PHS next year, Wilken said she plans to go to college to further her academic, as well as basketball, career. She has not decided on a university just yet, but said she plans to major in either biology or pre-physical therapy. She would one day like to become a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant.
