Max Zani, son of Paul and Donna Zani, is this week’s Jet’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week.
He is a senior at Franklin High School and a member of the Varsity Boys Cross Country team.
This season, he ran a personal best of 15:52 in a 5k. He also finished third overall in a regional meet.
Zani started running when he was in the fourth grade. At the time, he lived in Oxford, Mississippi and his father was his coach. Since then, he has loved the sport.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “My teammates inspire me every day. They are so talented and hardworking. They show me how to work hard every day.”
One of her biggest inspirations and role models is his father, Paul.
“He’s taught me how to be mentally tough and how to overcome adversity in running and in life,” he said. “I owe much of my success in my running career to him.”
Head Cross Country Coach, Coach Carolan said of Zani, “Max has had an amazing season so far. He has been a constant example of hard work and dedication and it has paid off with him being one of the top runners in the whole state. His passion and discipline make him a great leader and we’re excited to see how his season will end these last few weeks.”
After graduating from FHS this year, he plans to continue his running career at a Division I college.
