Julia Foote, daughter of Lesley and Scott Foote, is this week’s Jet’s Pizza female Athlete of the Week.
She is a senior at Franklin High School and a member of the Varsity Girls Cross Country team.
This season, she achieved a new PR of 19:55 at the Jesse Owens meet. She is also ranked 13th in the region.
She started running track in middle school. Not to soon after she started her track career, her coach recommended she also try cross country.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “To be part of a team and to be able to support each other… to set a goal and then accomplish it. I love the relationships I’ve made in this sport. They are lifelong.”
Her biggest role model is Whitney Bryant, a fellow runner at FHS.
“She is a friend who pushes me to be better and inspires me to put my best foot forward on my worst days,” she said. “She is strong and teaches me to be better every day.”
Head Cross Country Coach, Coach Carolan said of Foote, “Julia has had a breakthrough season becoming our number one runner. She made the decision to really focus on getting better and being a leader and it has paid off in a big way. Her hard work has helped her improve her times and become a really great runner on this team and in this region.”
After graduating next year, she plans to go to college to further her cross country and track careers and pursue a degree in psychology.
