Evan Sigler, son of Ken and Jennifer Sigler, is our Jet’s Pizza Male Athlete of the Week.
He is a senior at Franklin High School and captain of the varsity boys basketball team. He plays the position of shooting guard.
This season, Sigler won the regular season district title and reached 1,000 points in his basketball career.
He started playing basketball after encouragement from his father, Ken, at a very young age. His father played basketball at Hanover College, so he felt that it was a natural direction for him to take.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “I train and compete because of my love for the game. There’s always something I can work on to get better.”
FHS boys basketball coach Darrin Joines said of Sigler, “Evan is a senior captain for the Franklin Rebels. He helped lead Franklin to a win over Independence in the first round of the district tournament with 18 points, which included two clutch free throws to seal the victory.
Sigler said that one of his biggest role models and inspirations is professional basketball player, Klay Thompson. Thompson plays for the Golden State Warriors.
“I try to model my game after his,” he said.
After graduating from FHS this spring, Sigler plans to attend college and play basketball wherever he goes.
