Holly Harris, daughter of Ann and Wendell Harris, is our Jet’s Pizza Female Athlete of the Week.
She is a senior at Franklin High School and a member of the varsity girls basketball team. She plays the position of shooting guard.
As far as highlights so far this season, Harris said she is most proud of scoring 32 points in a game.
She started playing very early on, in pre-kindergarten with Upward League. In kindergarten, she changed to the Amateur Athletic Union and played under the same coach there for 10 years.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “The desire to be the best that I can be in all that I do and to do the best I can for my teammates.”
Her biggest role models and influences are her two older sisters.
“They taught me the work ethic I have today,” she said.
Harris’s coach, John Wild said of her, “Holly averages 19 points per game. She is unselfish and a team player. She is highly motivated and a leader for the team.”
After graduating this year, Harris is committed to playing at The University of Alabama- Huntsville. She hopes to eventually become a military physical therapist so that she can help rehabilitating soldiers.
