Stephen McCullough, son of Emily and Jesse McCullough, is our Jet’s Pizza Male Athlete of the Week.
He is a junior at Centennial High School and a member of the varsity wrestling team.
McCullough said that one of his biggest highlights from this season was achieving a 14 second pin against Franklin.
He got his start in the sport after an interesting activity in his study hall teacher and wrestling coach, Mr. Philip Pelkey’s class.
“He made a bet that I couldn’t do a six minute plank and then I did in the middle of class and then he said I should try wrestling,” he recalled.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “I love to win. I always have and I always will!”
His two biggest role models are his parents, Emily and Jesse.
“They both changed their lives around and taught me a good work ethic and I would not be where I am without them,” McCullough said.
After finishing at Centennial next year, he hopes to get a full scholarship to either Alabama University or Purdue University. He would like to pursue a career as an aerospace engineer.
