JET’S PIZZA ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Centennial High School

Lexi Sigmon

Sophomore

Lexi Sigmon, daughter of Pamela and Lawrence Sigmon Jr., is this week’s Jet’s Pizza female Athlete of the Week.

She is a sophomore at Centennial High School and a member of the softball team. So far this season, Sigmon said she is proudest of leading off a game against Franklin High School with a triple.

She said she started playing softball because she wanted to be like her older brother, who played baseball at the time.

When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said that her friends and teammates, Hannah Rodriguez and Annie Boggs, are her biggest motivators.

“We push each other to do our best,” she said.

One of her biggest role models and inspirations is Aaron Judge, a professional baseball outfielder for the New York Yankees. She said she looks up to him because “he hits a lot of home runs.”

CHS Softball Coach Jeff Serbin said of Sigmon, “Lexi has had a good start to her season and is hitting .385. She has had a double, a triple with only one error, and one strikeout in six games. Lexi is a good student and works hard on and off the field.”

With two years left at CHS, Sigmon said she plans to continue playing softball for now and attend college after she graduates.
