Abigail Baur, daughter of John and Tiffiney Baur, is a senior at Battle Ground Academy and this week’s Jet’s Pizza female Athlete of the Week.

She is a member of the varsity girls soccer team and plays the position of center back. This season, she started every game and played almost all minutes. As a part of the permeate backline, she helped achieve six shutouts.

Baur started playing soccer when she was only four years old.

“When I was four years old, my parents encouraged me to start playing soccer, and I have continued the sport almost every year since,” she said. “I enjoyed soccer because it would keep me in shape and bring out my competitive side. Ever since, it has played a substantial role in my life.”

When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “I am always motivated by the strong team atmosphere. In particular, I train harder when I know that the team is only doing it for each other.” She added, “I also am very inspired when I see that others on the team have a strong passion for the sport.”

Her biggest role models are her parents, John and Tiffiney.

“My parents motivate me because they work incredibly hard to send me to BGA, and I have never seen either one of them give up,” she said.

She said that their resilience gives her the perfect guide to follow and she admires their hard work and dedication.

After graduating from BGA this spring, she plans to attend college to pursue a career in the STEM field. She is considering pursuing a pre-med degree.
