Tyler Sills, son of Allen and Shawne Sills, is this week’s Jet’s Pizza male Athlete of the Week.
He is a senior at Battle Ground Academy and a member of the varsity baseball team. So far this season, he has a hitting average of .375. On the mound, he is 1-0 with an earned run average of 0.00 and five strikeouts.
Sills said he remembers becoming interested in playing baseball at the age of three.
“I was the bat boy on my older brother’s rec league team,” he said. “I had so much fun doing that that I stuck with it and started playing as soon as I was old enough.”
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “Ultimately, I try to be the best player that I can be to be as helpful… to my team as I can be.”
One of his biggest inspirations and influences is his father, Allen.
“I have learned everything about how to conduct myself both on and off the field from him,” he said. “He constantly pushes me to be the best version of myself that I can be.”
After graduating from BGA this year, Sills plans to attend college. He would like to continue playing baseball there and pursue a career in the medical field.
