The senior living community The Heritage at Brentwood opened the first phase of a major expansion project this week.
The Heritage opened a new auditorium on Monday, and plans to open a new dining room, a day spa, an indoor pool and almost 100 new apartments by this summer. The expansion also includes 11 assisted living beds. Construction started in the fall of 2017.
The new apartments will expand the total capacity of the Heritage to about 450 people. The community currently has space for about 325. About 70 to 80 percent of the new apartments have already been claimed.
Residents gathered for a performance in a newly opened auditorium on Monday afternoon. The room has space for more than 300 people, significantly larger than existing community spaces.
“We’re really excited about the larger scale events we’re going to be able to offer to residents,”Director of Community Life Services Ashlie Burnett said. “We’ve never had anything of that capacity before.”
Before the performance in the new auditorium, Executive Director Jon Tagatz said some residents had been waiting for the improvements for almost a dozen years, but said he hopes the wait was worth it.
