The Canadian research company Thomson Reuters acquired the Brentwood accounting company Confirmation. Thomson Reuters announced the acquisition on Friday.
Confirmation provides digital validation of financial or other sensitive information for auditors, banks and law firms. The company reports that it has about 1.5 million users, and provides confirmation for more than $1 trillion in financial data each year.
The company has about 200 employees. All employees in the Nashville area will remain with the company.
Thomson Reuters provides legal and accounting research. The company also runs a news wire service.
“The Confirmation acquisition will strengthen offerings to our core tax, accounting and audit customers,” Thomson Reuters CEO Jim Smith said, according to a press release. “We will continue to invest in solutions that help our customers automate tasks in their daily workflow. The Confirmation acquisition fits that objective.”
The acquisition is still subject to regulatory approvals.
