Franklin High School baseball coach Jon Whipple, along with his coaching staff and players, are hosting a four-day summer camp for for third-ninth grade students June 8-11 at Cheek Park.

The camp will challenge participants in all phases of the game, as well as dispel and clarify many of the myths in the areas of hitting and pitching. Instruction will be provided through stations, drills and competitions.

There is a limited space of 50 participants for both the youth and middle school camps, so pre-registering is encouraged. Pre-registration forms can be sent to Franklin High School, 810 Hillsboro Rd., with an Attn. to Jon Whipple. Registration will also take place June 8 from 8-8:30 a.m.

The youth camp, for rising third-sixth graders, will be held from 8:30-10:30 a.m. all four days, with a focus on fundamentals of the game. The middle school camp, for rising seventh-ninth graders, will follow at 10:45 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., focusing on the transition to high school baseball, with emphasis placed on position play, hitting fundamentals and game play experience.

Fees for the camp are $80, covering all four days and including a camp T-shirt. Checks can be made payable to FHS Baseball Boosters.

Participants should bring baseball equipment, pants, cleats and a snack (or money to purchase concession items).
