After a stellar soccer season that ended in a state tournament berth, Fairview junior Brandon Parrish has received a state-best honor.
Gatorade has named him the 2018-19 Tennessee Boys Soccer Player of the Year, a first for a Yellow Jacket.
“The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguishes Parrish as Tennessee’s best high school boys soccer player,” the press release reads of the honor.
“The 5-foot-9, 152-pound junior midfielder scored 38 goals and passed for 11 assists this past season, leading the Yellow Jackets (17-4-1) to the Class AA state semifinals. Parrish recorded 11 multi-goal games, including six hat tricks. A two-time District 12-AA Player of the Year, Parrish was selected to compete in July’s Allstate Cup in Orlando. He concluded his junior year with 68 goals and 40 assists in his prep soccer career.”
He’s set to join the Clemson Tigers in the fall of 2020 to continue his career.
