Justin Kanew, a Democratic candidate for Congress in Tennessee’s 7th District and a former contestant on “The Amazing Race,” will relive aspects of the show in a 19-county tour of the district.

Kanew, a film producer and writer who moved to College Grove from Los Angeles, will begin the “Amazing Race through District 7″ on Monday, June 11.

He and other volunteers will help paint a group home for men in the Natchez community of Franklin next week.

Kanew will be joined by Zev Glassenberg, the first Amazing Race competitor to be on the autism spectrum, for the first few legs of his trip.

Kanew and his team will continue through the district, volunteering at a Boys and Girls Club in Maury County, a park clean up, at senior centers, and with hosting book drives.

The race will finish June 29 in Montgomery County with a free concert for all registered voters at the Downtown Commons in Clarksville. Grammy Awardwinning reggae star Gramps Morgan of Morgan Heritage, a Franklin resident, will headline.

Kanew runs against Dr. Mark Green, a Republican senator from Clarksville, and Matt Reel, a Democrat and Green Beret from Hickman County.

Eschewing political action committee money, Kanew says he has raised over $240,000 in individual campaign contributions with over 1,000 campaign volunteers. He has received endorsements from current and former local officials including Rep. Johnny Shaw of Bolivar, and former 5th District Congressman Bob Clement.
