The hit Broadway musical “Bye Bye Birdie” featuring a talented cast of more than 65 upper school students comes to the Brentwood Academy theatre stage on April 19, 20, 21, and 22.

“Bye Bye Birdie is the original high school musical … the first musical about high school students,” Brentwood Academy Fine Arts Director Jenny Oldham said. “The show is pre-“Grease”, pre-“Footloose”, and pre-“Hairspray.”

“The premise is that Conrad Birdie, like Elvis, has been drafted into the Army and he has legions of screaming teenage girl fans who don’t want him to leave. As a publicity stunt, Conrad Birdie’s manager concocts an idea for a “last kiss” to
be given on the Ed Sullivan Show. The musical revolves around that plot and all
the fun and chaos involved.”

Oldham is musical director for the show and show director is Holly Shepherd Urbanowicz, both Brentwood Academy faculty members.

Performances are at 7 p.m. with the exception of the April 22 show, which is a
matinee at 2 p.m. Advance tickets may be purchased by going to brentwoodacademy.com/boxoffice.
