Grace Christian Academy (GCA) is staging Broadway’s modern classic, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, with a cast of 40 students at the campus on Southall Road.
The musical is a timeless story of second chances and true love. Beauty and the Beast is a story about Belle (Madison Brown), a young woman in a provincial town, and the Beast (Stephen Jordan), who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. Also under the spell are the Beast’s servants, including Lumiere (Katie Justice), Cogsworth (Hannah Hart), Babette (McKenna Varner & Brooke Baker), Madame de le Grande Bouche (Mattea Gernetz), Mrs. Potts (Kristen Mahy) and her son Chip (Hudson Hicks). If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson soon, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity. Along the journey, you will also meet Belle’s father Maurice (Cade Blair), Gaston (Sam Johnson) and his sidekick LeFou (Clancy Berger), and Madame D’Arque (Tristen Goree).
Performances are on at 6:30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday, May 1 and 2, in the Grace Chapel gym (entrance 3). Tickets are sold at the door for $5 each. GCA students and GCA homeschool umbrella students receive free admission.
