STATE VOLLEYBALL: Brentwood to compete for 4th straight title; Page ousted

The Brentwood volleyball team will have a chance to clinch a four-peat Friday.

The Lady Bruins (50-4) advanced to the Class AAA state championship with a 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 win over Hardin Valley in the semifinals at Middle Tennessee State University Thursday.

Logan Eggleston led Brentwood with 17 kills, three digs and one block, while Megan Jantzi had eight blocks, three digs, three kills and an ace.

Garrett Joiner added nine kills, four digs and two blocks, and Kam Carter tallied six digs, four blocks, three kills and three aces.

Brentwood will battle Farragut for the title at 3 p.m. Friday at MTSU. It’s the third straight year the two will battle in the finals.

Brentwood defeated FHS 3-1 in the quarterfinals Wednesday.

The Page Lady Patriots fell 3-0 against Signal Mountain in the third round of the Class AA loser’s bracket Thursday afternoon.

They defeated Hume-Fogg 3-2 in their second elimination game of the tournament in the morning.

Page finishes the season with a 36-13 record.
