With a chip on their shoulder and a playoff bracket on the line, the Brentwood Academy Eagles, with key defensive players back from injuries, played against the hosting Montgomery Bell Academy Big Red with the force of an Eagle looking to hit its prey.

Coming off their upset in October when they were beaten by MBA in overtime, you knew it was going to be competitive from the start.

Though, with a 28-6 win over MBA, BA will advance to yet another state game, this time facing Memphis University School in Cookeville for the D-II Class AAA championship on Friday, Nov. 30, at 7:00 p.m.

In its only points of the night, the hosting Big Red got off to a hot start. They rushed down the field in the second quarter with a 37 yard pass from quarterback William Tyrone to Braden Myers that scored the first touchdown for the game and hinted that Big Red was going to take the upper hand in this contest. Myers skipped around the BA defenders to put the first points on the board for his team.

However, in the second quarter, BA came back to return the message and never quit on either side of the ball.

BA quarterback Wade Williams completed a 70 yard pass to Jack Victory from the MBA 30 yard line; followed by the extra point which put the score at 7-6.

In the second quarter, with 1:36 to go, Williams, on 3rd and 10 from the 17 yard line, carried the ball to first and goal. With 27 seconds left, coach Cody White called time out, and Williams passed the ball to Tomario Pleasant for the touchdown.

This put the score to 14 -6 at the half with 11 plays and 79 yards from a strong offensive effort by the Eagles.

In the third quarter, Williams and company rushed down to the 34 yard line where Williams shot a perfect pass to Aaron Lovins as BA began to dominate on all cylinders with the score at 21-6.

With 9:06 to go, BA drove down the field and Jordan James carried the ball for 32 yards and the final touchdown of the game, making the final score 28-6.

Devyn Curtis, Nathan Clifton, Garret Crouch, and Victory worked hard to stop the MBA passing game, which never rallied in the second half.

MBA had time to get some momentum going but they could not and buckled under a relentless defensive effort by BA that led to two sacks on Tyrone in the final minutes of the game. They had seven overall in the game.
