The Tennessee Department of Transportation announced Tuesday morning that Mack Hatcher Memorial Parkway will be extended from Hillsboro Road to Hwy. 96 West near Westhaven.

TDOT released its three-year-plan showing what projects will be funded. Three projects in Williamson County were on that list.

Mack Hatcher Memorial Parkway will be extended from U.S. 431 to state Route 96, a 3.6-mile stretch. Also on the list is widening of state Route 96 from Arno Road to Wilson Pike. The plan also includes acquiring right-of-way for a construction project on Wilson Pike to Interstate 840.

The Mack Hatcher Memorial Parkway construction is in the 2017-2018 fiscal year budget, so construction could start soon. The city of Franklin has put more than $5 million into trying to get construction on the road done. This will be the northwest quadrant of an expected 7.5-mile loop around Franklin.

The southwest quadrant is not part of the work.
