Junior Tucker Beathard will succeed his brother at QB for the Wildcats in Friday’s 7 p.m. season-opener at home against Smyrna, Batten said Thursday. Grossvenor, a left-hander, is a sophomore.

“It was a great competition all throughout camp,” Batten said. “We just feel like at this time Tucker did a lot of good things and is the right person to lead our team, and we’re excited about him.

“And Cole needs to be ready at any point to play and he also had a really good camp. So it’s exciting to have two quarterbacks who can do some good things in time.”

Beathard, a starter at cornerback as a sophomore, will also continue to play defense for BGA.
