Anna Moore, daughter of Geoff and Jan Moore, is a senior at Franklin High School and this week’s Athlete of the Week.
She is a member of the Varsity Tennis Team and competes in #1 singles and #1 doubles. This season, she won first singles and doubles matches against East Hickman. Last season, she was crowned the District Champion for singles.
Moore said before she ever played tennis, she remembers playing racquetball for fun on the side of her home. Once she started middle school she said she found an interest in tennis and decided to try it for fun. She has been playing ever since.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “I am naturally a very competitive person, so I love pushing myself to improve. Beyond winning, what is most important to me is the satisfaction of knowing I did my best, both on the court and off.”
One of her biggest role models is actress and activist Emma Watson. She said she admires Watson for her “advocacy for basic global gender equality and fighting for women’s access to education.”
Moore describes herself as self-motivated and compassionate. When she’s not on the court, she enjoys playing guitar and photography.
After finishing up at FHS this spring, she plans to attend Taylor University. There, she would like to obtain a degree in Philosophy, Political Science and Economics. After that, she said she would possibly consider pursuing a law degree or enter the field of foreign policy/ international affairs.
