Eli Hassenplug, son of Nicole and Tim Hollis, is a senior at Fairview High School and a member of the JROTC Raider team.
This year, the Raiders were a National Championship rope bridge team and Hassenplug helped contribute to his team placing third at Nationals.
He got his start in the program after being recruited his eighth grade year. He joined the team as a freshman.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said, “I am inspired by my desire to not let others down.”
One of Hassenplug’s teachers said of him, “Eli is an extremely physical Raider. He is a true team player who never leaves anyone behind. He always finds the ‘spark’ to motivate the team which allows him to push harder.”
One of his biggest role models and inspirations is Desmond Doss. Doss was a combat medic in the Army in the Phillipines and saved 75 lives in the Battle of Okinawa. He really admires his strength and perseverance.
After graduating, he plans to pursue a career as a combat medic for the Army Rangers. After retiring his position, he would like to return to Williamson County to become a paramedic.
