Izzy Baskette, daughter of Andrea and Matthew Baskette, is a senior at Fairview High School and a member of the Varsity Girls Cheerleading Team.
She is the captain of the team and holds a flyer position on the squad.
Baskette’s cheerleading career started when she cheered for Upward Flag Football in elementary school. Since middle school, she has been cheering consistently each year.
When asked what inspires her to train and compete she said, “Learning more stunts and hitting them in front of the crowd at pep rallies and games. It feels good when people cheer you on.”
Her biggest role model is her mother, Andrea. “She pushes me to be the best I can be and helps me stay positive,” she said.
Outside of cheering, Baskette enjoys shopping, camping, spending time with friends and going to see movies.
FVHS Cheer Coach Chelseay Morrisey said of her, “Izzy is a fantastic cheerleader! [She] has stepped up this season and taken on a leadership role as one of our captains of the Varsity team. She is a super hard worker and well respected by her teammates. I have really enjoyed coaching Izzy this season and look forward to helping her pursue her goal of becoming a college cheerleader.”
After graduating from Fairview High this spring, she is planning to attend The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She hopes to continue her cheerleading career there and pursue a career in Occupational Therapy.
