DJ Estes, son of David and Suzie Estes, is a senior at Fairview High School and a member of the varsity boys basketball team.
This season, he scored 31 points against Stewart County.
Estes said his earliest memory of having an interest in basketball was when he used to play with his dad in the basement when he was young.
When asked what inspires him to train and compete he said that the thought of having the opportunity to play in college keeps him motivated.
FHS basketball coach said of Estes, “DJ is first and foremost a great kid. Coaching players like DJ is always a pleasure because they are always looking to get better and help their team succeed. His hard work has paid off, helping us to one of the best seasons in program history while posting games of 31,29,28 and 24 points along the way.
Estes said that his biggest role model and inspiration is his father, David.
“He works hard every day and has taught me to work hard with whatever I do,” he said.
After graduating from FHS next year, he said he plans to attend college and continue playing basketball there.
