Kyleigh Burgett, daughter of Farrah and Brad Burgett, is a freshman at Centennial High School and this week’s Athlete of the Week.
She is a member of the softball team. This season, she scored her first home run.
Burgett said she started playing softball at a very young age at the encouragement of her father. She said since then, she has always played.
When asked what inspires her to continue training and competing she said that the thought of playing at the highest level keeps her working hard.
CHS Softball Coach Jeff Serbin said of Burgett, “Kyleigh plays the game of softball with such passion and has made a huge impact on the team. She may only be a freshman, but she plays the game like an experienced senior.”
Her biggest role models are her parents, Farrah and Brad.
“My mom helps me be the best person I can be and my dad pushes me to be the best athlete I can be,” she said.
She describes herself as competitive, strong, hard working and fun-loving. When she’s not on the field, she enjoys spending time with friends, doing makeup, and playing other sports for fun.
Although her specific plans are still a ways ahead of her, she said she hopes to play softball at the collegiate level.
