Solomon Washington, son of Delinar and Howard Washington, is a senior at Centennial High School and this week’s Athlete of the Week.
He is a member of the Varsity Baseball Team. During a game over spring break, Washington scored two home runs.
He has been playing since he was three years old. When asked what keeps him motivated after all these years, he said his dream of making it to play in Major League Baseball pushes him forward.
One of his biggest role models is professional baseball player, Derek Jeter. He said he admires Jeter for never letting anything hold him back.
CHS Baseball Coach Rob Baughman said of Washington, “Solomon is a three-year starter for us and he’s also a Tennessee Tech commit to play baseball! He is leading the team so far in batting average hitting 526. He has two homeruns along with nine RBI’s. He is also one of our top pitchers this year and he is 2-0. Solomon is a fantastic young man and a great leader for our team!”
When he’s not on the field, he enjoys playing video games and spending time with friends.
After graduating from CHS, he plans to attend Tennessee Tech University.
