Ashland Hardin, daughter of Leslie Forrest, is this week’s Athlete of the Week.
She is a senior at Centennial High School and a member of the Varsity Girls Basketball Team. She plays the position of center. This season, she had a double double in four out of five games played.
Hardin started her basketball career at the age of four on a Franklin rec team coached by her mother, Leslie.
When asked what inspires her to continue training and competing she said, “I just want to make my family proud, especially my mother.”
It comes as no surprise that her mom is also her biggest inspiration and role model. “She teaches me how to better myself every day,” Hardin said.
Brad Simmons, the girls Head Basketball Coach said of Hardin, “Ashland is a very unselfish player that would like to continue her playing career at the next level.”
Hardin describes herself as humble, competitive and outgoing. Outside of basketball, she said she enjoys listening to music, eating, sleeping, and working out.
After graduating from CHS this spring, she plans to go to college on a full ride scholarship for basketball. She said she will make her final decision in February.
