Dusty Williams, son of Stacey Williams, is this week’s Athlete of the Week.
He is a junior at Centennial High School and a member of the Varsity Boys Basketball Team. He plays the position of shooting guard. This season, in a game against Page High School, he scored 25 points, and made two assists and three steals.
He started playing basketball at the young age of three and has been at it ever since. He said, “I used to carry a little basketball with me everywhere I went. Ever since my first rec game, I fell in love with the sport.”
When asked what inspires him to continue training and competing he said, “I do it all for my Dad.”
He added that his Dad is his biggest role model. “He has always shown me how to have great work ethic and how to always grow as a man,” he said.
Williams describes himself as a servant leader and kind.
CHS Boys Basketball Coach Peter Froedden said of him, “As good of a basketball player as Dusty is, he is even a better person; always thinking of others. He is indeed one of the special kids that I have coached.”
After graduating from CHS next year, he plans to get a Division I scholarship. If he is able, he would like to try to play professionally overseas. He would also like to pursue a major in Business and Finance.
