Jake Holloway, son of Ken and Roz Holloway, is a senior at Battle Ground Academy and a member of the boys varsity baseball team.
As a young boy, Holloway began playing with encouragement from his father. His father was a baseball player and coached Jake in his first few years on the field.
Holloway has come a long way since those first few days and now has a .360 batting average, 18 RBI’s, and two home runs this season. He plays two positions that require a lot of skill, speed, and tact: short stop and pitcher. Pitching is his favorite because “you can really control the game.”
He also plays football for the school and plans to play both baseball and football in college. He is committed to Centre College where he will play both sports.
His younger brother is his inspiration and his biggest motivator, as he also plays on the varsity team. Holloway said he wants to play better than his brother, but even more so, set the bar high for his brother to help him excel.
His role models are his parents because of the support that they show him and their own talent in the sports arena. Both played sports on collegiate teams.
