For girls who love skateboarding, there will be an all-girls skate session at the Brentwood YMCA Skatepark next weekend to bring girls together to empower each other.
On Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., girls of all ages can come to the skatepark regardless of their skill level for the Girls Riders Organization event.
“This is an event for ALL girls, regardless of skill level to come out, meet and greet, get to know one another and be a part of community events and partnerships,” event organizer Samantha DeGrass said. “There will be monthly guest speakers, fun and exciting projects and the skatepark, which girls can enjoy for the two hours we meet or for the whole day.”
Girls Riders Organization is a group that aims to inspire, educate and support girls through action sports to be active in life and confident leaders of positive change in the communities around them. The nonprofit is the first of its kind that’s open to all females in skateboarding, snowboarding and other action sports.
Participants are asked to bring a canned food item to benefit Graceworks Ministries. The Brentwood YMCA is located at 8207 Concord Road.
